Preface

I’ve clearly selected the marriage trilogy title for my play which reflects the private relations between men and women in the modern world. “A confession in front of our dreams ” is one part of this trilogy which consists of three independent scenes in turn; each of them can be singly staged as a short play without any manipulation. While the three scenes are implicitly and structurally independent, they have a content-based unity; each indicates the passage of time in the life of the play’s characters in order to establish unity among the formed components in the total process of the text and increase its coherence at different infrastructural levels in order of priorities. Far from any kinds of predetermined judgment, I’ve been after developing a progressive look in the play; and the very follow-up has made me enthusiastic to build the atmosphere dependent on the characters’ psychological elements which of course, are more expanded than their hypothetical actions; I could avoid the artificial and repeatedly restricted atmosphere of actions (behavior) of today’s man this way. Through such an outlook, a work about development of mental atmosphere should be written to describe the psyche of the characters much more which reflects the very close relationship of marital life of today’s man in three different stages of marriage, reproduction, and divorce. So, to make the requested mental atmosphere of the play believable, I’ve always tried to take the story toward the post-event stage and make the audience’s mind focus on the process and the end of these three impressive events in order for such a progressive view which I’ve always been after to be developed in the whole play through omitting the event. The post-event concept, of course, can frankly be understood from man’s attempts to achieve divorce, making fun of the situation by man in the direction of their misunderstanding in life and at the end their desire for achieving an imaginary understanding which I’ve gone through respectively in three scenes. Such a setting wasn’t possible at all unless through a mentality which is resulted from omitting other elements in turn; and to reach that end, I had no way forward but omitting them. The current play, in fact, is full of elements which have basically been omitted to put emphasis on them; the lack of their presence may be an emphasis on the prevailing mental atmosphere of the play; an emphasis which caused the characters to ignore each other and reach a chain of vicious imaginary expectations in the last scene. By studying the case above, it can certainly be concluded that they have reached each other far from the truth and through the illusion etched inside them to pay damages of such an illusion in their real life and devote their life to the heavy shadow of these illusions.

Preface

Man has certainly left behind a period of time destitute of historical civilization to reach a great one ahead. He, in fact, had no way out. He could not find himself civilized all of a sudden without any clear background in this regard. Therefore, his intuitions in the heart of history can be understood from this point of view. He has reached a deep understanding toward the surrounding world through his trial and error. That’s why he keeps from those thousands of his past deep-rooted struggles. War is regarded as one of those historical struggles. It differs from the other man’s historical intuitions just where it’s rooted in; it can certainly be claimed that it’s stemmed from man’s nature. Man’s nature has undergone many changes in his attitude toward his surrounding world during the process of the history. It can obviously be realized through studying man’s behavior within history that he’s been always after creating a historical feeling for his own self; a feeling through which he can reach a great coexistence; a feeling which defies description because it’s been approved as a solved issue for today’s man and would bring him a historical intuition not a deep-rooted bewilderment and confusion, if it had a clear definition. His failure in reaching the mentioned goal had been malicious and led to a secondary impact on his attitude toward the reality for him. Maybe the impact is regarded as a kind of man’s war on himself against his dissatisfaction with his current nature. It, in fact, can be claimed that we are certainly fighting against each other to reach a common feeling or maybe to omit and suppress the current feeling, if developing hatred toward war is regarded as a feeling. This vicious circle has always paved the way for any kind of problems and led us on the verge of death repeatedly. Man, in fact, has been regarded as a victim of this historical intuition. I, in turn, have tried my utmost to reach those mentioned issues in a war-stricken situation and review the war impacts on people’s lives around  in my screenplay Will I stay alive, if I stop talking….?. The paramount concern and goal, of course, is to define a kind of great war creating a small one between ordinary people; those who have always come back empty handed from the battle in the way to find this common feeling during the history. But the secret always leads them all toward war against each other is the only vague and ambiguous point of such equation.
